Body

Examples of ways to identify a phishing attempt

How can I tell if a message is legit?

Be suspicious if ANY of these clues appear.

  1. From address is not uwplatt.edu
  2. Are you expecting an invoice attachment? Also, does your organization use this date format?
  3. Is this process typical? i.e. Does this make sense to you? Would you receive this kind of doc from this person/organization? Trust your gut.
  4. Misspelled department name
  5. Hovering over a link or button displays the destination URL. Does this URL seem legitimate? In this case, it is not a uwplatt address.
