Web - Go Shortcut URLs

Summary

UW-Platteville has established a set of URLs that are used to gain quick access to online resources. They are designed to "virtualize" the URL so content location changes do not invalidate links or published URLs. For that reason, it is strongly encouraged that these URLs be used instead of the native URL for these areas.

Body

The form of the URL is https:/go.uwplatt.edu/ followed by a keyword (and no trailing slash). Below is a list of the primary keywords and a description of the destination:

  • astra - Room Scheduling Software
  • aup - Acceptable Use Policy for Information Technology
  • duo - Duo Two-factor Authentication Self-Service
  • email - E-mail system page
  • tdxclient - ITS Issue Tracking System
  • laundry - Laundry View, check availability of washers and dryers in the residence halls
  • parking - University Parking Information
  • passport - Pioneer Passport Funds - check balance, add money
  • password - Password Management page

UW-Platteville maintains its own ULR shortener, similar to services like bit.ly. The purpose of the URL Shortener is to provide easy-to-remember links for print materials. Shortened links work well for URLs that change often, maintaining consistency.
