Initiating your UW-Platteville account consists of setting a password, choosing challenge response and help desk questions, and enrolling in Duo Self-Service for two-factor authentication. There are three ways for employees to initiate their UW-Platteville accounts.
In person
Visit the ITS Help Desk on the first floor of Karrmann Library during business hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NEED: A photo ID to verify your identity and a cell phone
Over the phone
Call the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 during regular business hours (see #1). Staff will verify your identity using account information and walk you through the process.
NEED: A computer and cell phone
DIY online
This method is available ONLY to new employees who have never worked for the university before and requires that we have a personal/third party email address on file. Go to this site and follow the online instructions: https://password.uwplatt.edu/sspr/public/activate. NOTE: You your legal first and last names and date of birth must match the information in our system exactly.
NEED: A computer, a cell phone, and your UW-Platteville username from your supervisor
