Connecting Devices to the Wired Network in the Residence Halls

Summary

How to connect devices with a wired connection in the residence halls.

Body

You can connect your Xbox, Playstation, and other wired devices to the wired network connection in your residence hall room. To connect your wired device to the wired connection in your residence hall room, follow the steps below.

  1. Get the wired MAC or LAN MAC address for your device. Typically this information will be under the settings or network screen on your device.
  2. Visit this website from another device that is connected to the campus network (UWPlatt wireless or wired), login using your campus credentials, and fill out the form.
  3. Connect your device to the wired connection in your room. This will be denoted on the wall plates on either side of the room. Plug an ethernet or RJ45 cable into the DATA jack and your device. If your device was already connected before submitting the form a reboot might be required for connectivity to be successful.
