Policy: Markee Pioneer Student Center Posting Policy

Posting of materials is limited to the designated bulletin boards, display cases and banner locations. Nothing may be hung outside of the designated locations in the Markee Pioneer Student Center without approval from the Assistant Director.  The Markee staff reserve the right to remove unauthorized postings.

Bulletin Boards/Posters

Posting approvals for the bulletin boards within the Markee Pioneer Student Center are handled by the Markee staff at the Information Center. If you have a poster you would like displayed on the Markee bulletin boards, the Information Center can accept up to three copies of the poster.

  • All posters must include the date, time, place, sponsor, and price, if applicable. Posters without these items listed will not be approved for posting.
  • The following university disability statement is required for on campus departments and organizations. “To request disability accommodations, contact <insert the sponsoring organization> at <insert organizations phone number> or <insert uwplatt.edu email>.”
  • Posters may remain posted for a maximum of two weeks or until the event is scheduled, whichever comes first.
  • Posters will be initialed and dated for removal by the Markee staff.
  • Markee staff will post and monitor all items on the bulletin boards.
  • Posters advertising a series of activities must be approved by the Assistant Director and if approved, may only be posted through the last event publicized. 
  • The Markee staff reserves the right to request editing of inappropriate language or artistry or deny the right to post.
    • Any advertising of materials not related to the educational mission may be deemed inappropriate.
    • Ideological/political materials will be allowed as long as they are not found offensive.
    • Materials in which the sale of alcohol is a primary focus are not allowed.
  • In order to provide for our primary customers, the Markee staff may remove any non-university postings to allow room for campus organizations.

Display Cases

The Markee Pioneer Student Center has one display case available for use by campus organizations. All other display cases in the Markee are assigned to departments housed within the Markee.

  • The display case reservable by campus organizations is labeled DC4 and is located on the first floor of the Markee.
  • The display case is available to reserve for a week at a time with Event Reservations. The weekly reservations are made for Monday morning through Sunday evening.
  • If the display case is not reserved the following week, an organization may extend their reservations on Friday of the reserved week for another seven consecutive days.
  • Organizations must remove all items from the display case by 10 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Items removed from the display case by Markee staff will be kept at the Information Center for campus organizations to pick up for a period of three days, after which the items will be disposed of.

Banners

The Markee Pioneer Student Center has three banner locations available for use by campus organizations: open space located above the Northwest interior entry, one space located above the northwest stairwell, and one space located in the south stairwell.

  • The banner spaces are available to reserve by campus organizations for a week at a time with Event Reservations. The weekly reservations are made for Sunday through Saturday.
  • Campus organizations can only have one banner space at a time.
  • Posters or flyers are not permitted in these locations.
  • Banners for hanging above the northwest interior entry must;
    • Show the name of the campus organization
    • Be no larger than 3 feet by 7 feet
    • Be made from butcher block paper
  • Banners for hanging on the second floor landing above the stairwells must;
    • Show the name of the campus organization
    • Be no larger then 3 feet by 5 feet
    • Be vinyl, laminated paper, or other approved material
  • All banners must be dropped off at the Markee Information Center and hung up by the Markee staff on the weekend or during other low traffic times.
  • All banners must be picked up at the Markee Information Center a minimum of three days after the reservation ends. Any unclaimed banners will be disposed of.
