REASON FOR POLICY  

To provide consistent expectations for the position of positions with a commitment toward open recruitment. 


SCOPE 

All classifications of employment. 


DEFINITIONS

Interim Appointment: An appointment to a position that is not permanent in nature but is intended to provide short term coverage due to a vacancy.

Internal Recruitment Eligibility: recruitments that are open to active UW-Platteville employees only

Project Appointment: an appointment for which the need is project-based and there is an established probable date of termination 


POLICY STATEMENT  

Open position recruitments are required to be posted for the determined amount of time to ensure equal opportunity for all interested candidates (on and off campus). All recruitments must include an on-campus interview. Phone/Skype interviews are encouraged as initial interviews.

*Internal Recruitment Eligibility – these recruitments are welcome when there is a sufficient applicant pool within the active employees on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville main and branch campuses. All three campuses are to be included in Internal Recruitments. Must be posted for 7 calendar days.

**Academic Staff Project – will be used on a very limited basis. Academic Staff Project per UWSA is treated as an Academic Staff employee. Review UWSA Policy for Job Security and Layoff.

Waiver Positions – initial position will be posted “blindly” for individual to apply.

Interim Positions – interim roles at Director level and below are intended for a maximum length of one year.
