Issue with Chrome 114 and Linking in Perceptive Experience

Problem

Chrome version 114 released on 5-31-2023 removes the ability to access the accessibility layer in Chrome. This is critical to pulling website data when linking in Perceptive Experience. Users will get an error of "Could not find tableCell[Person Information]." or similar.

Work-around

Update desktop shortcut for Google Chrome

UW-Platteville IT has provided a package in Software Center to replace the Google Chrome shortcut on the desktop with a shortcut that contains the needed parameters.

  1. Open Software Center from the Start Menu or search for "Software Center" in the search bar.
  2. In the Applications tab, locate the "Chrome Shortcut for Perceptive Linking" application and click on the icon.

  4. If you prefer to have the Chrome shortcut in your task bar, unpin any existing Chrome shortcuts and either drag the new icon to the task bar or right click and select Pin to taskbar.
