PASS - What is it?

What is PASS?

Pioneer Administration Software System (PASS) is the University of Wisconsin-Platteville version of Student Administration System and Student Information System. This system will provide UW-Platteville with comprehensive information management to support all aspects of our student administration processes.

Advantages of PASS

The software package will allow UW-Platteville to maximize the convenience of all student processes for the students we serve. It will centralize all processes for prospective students, applicants, and current students with registration, fee payment, financial aid processing and grading. Many of these services will be easily accessible to students via self-service access on the web. The system centralizes the storage of all student information used by a multitude of users.  This centralized storage minimizes update requirements, maximizes accessibility, saves time, and improves data integrity.

Components and Structure

The software is made up of five functional components, or modules, which support the business processes for student administration at the UW-Platteville:

Campus Community – This functional component is often referred to as the "heart" of the entire information system. It stores data about people, which includes students, faculty and staff, and administrative users. Campus Community is where a wide variety of demographic data is stored in the system.

Admissions – stores, manages, and tracks information related to all applications. This component includes a wide variety of pages that allow users to enter data and view summary information about applicants such as test scores or high school transcript data. Additionally, this module is also capable of other tasks such as loading external test score data and tracking applicants by high school.

Financial Aid – tracks financial aid processes and activity. The Financial Aid module allows the institution to track the entire aid cycle from application processing to the actual disbursement of aid. Financial Aid has the ability to interact with the U.S. Department of Education Central Processing System.

Student Records – tracks students from admission to their departure from UW-Platteville. In this module, all academic information, such as student program and plan, enrollment, and grades, is captured and tracked to compile a complete history of a student’s history at UW-Platteville, including their official and unofficial transcripts.

Student Financials – handles accounting tasks. The Student Financials module enables the calculation of tuition and fees and creates student bills. A complete history of a student account is stored within the Student Financials module. Additionally, this module includes a collections system to track and manage overdue accounts
