-
From the Home screen, select Settings to access device settings.
-
Select Wi-Fi from the Settings menu
-
In the Wi-Fi Networks menu, verify that Wi-Fi is On. If not, move the slider right to enable Wi-Fi.
-
Once Wi-Fi is turned on, wait while available wireless networks are detected.
-
Once populated, tap the desired wireless network. UW-Platteville students, faculty, and staff should select UWPlatt for best wireless network performance. Only guests to campus should choose UWGuest.
-
Before selecting Join This Network, depending on your version of iOS, you may see a "Private Wi-Fi Address" setting.
Verify that this is set to Off. By default, it is set to Fixed, but this setting needs to be off to work correctly with the UWPlatt network.
When you select Off, you will receive a message: “Allow this device to be tracked by Wi-Fi Networks and nearby Wi-Fi devices when using ‘UWPlatt’”, followed by options Cancel or Allow Tracking. Click Allow Tracking for the setting to take effect. The only additional information provided to the system by allowing this setting is your device’s MAC address (unique identifier), which is required for the wireless network authentication system to work correctly.
-
Once the “Private Wi-Fi Address” setting is set, tap Join This Network.
Since UWPlatt is a secured wireless network, a username and password is required to connect.
-
Tap Go, Return, or Enter, depending on your version of iOS.
Since UWPlatt is an encrypted wireless network, a certificate warning box will appear. Tap Accept for "rad2.ion.uwplatt.edu" Client Authentication certificate.
Wait while the device connects to UWPlatt. Verify that Wi-Fi Networks now shows UWPlatt with a checkmark indicating connected.
