Reactivating your Duo phone (new phone with same number) - Universal Prompt

Duo steps for reauthorizing a new device that has the same phone number. If your phone number has changed, see Reactivating your Duo phone (new phone with new number) - Universal Prompt (Fall 2023) for more information.

  1. Go to the UW-Platteville Duo Self-Service page and click on the Device Management button.
  2. Enter your UW-Platteville NetID (Username) and Password and click the Login button or press the Enter key.
  3. When prompted to "Check for a Duo Push, click the Other options link. Duo Push will not work here.
  4. When presented with "Other options to log in, click on Text message passcode.
  5. When you receive the SMS message on your smart phone, enter it into the dialog and click Verify.
  6. Respond to the "Is this your device?" prompt.
  7. Locate the smart phone tile with your phone number and click I have a new phone.
  8. Follow the prompts to set up your phone. Click Get started.
  9. Confirm ownership by sending a passcode via SMS. Click Send me a passcode.
  10. Enter the passcode received and click Verify.
  11. If you have not already done so, download the Duo Mobile app on your new smart phone and click Next.
  12. Within the Duo Mobile app on your smart phone, follow the prompts to add a new account using a QR code. Point your phone camera at the QR code on the screen. You may need to provide the Duo Mobile app access to your your smart phone camera. Once successfully scanned, a green check mark should appear in the QR code on the screen.
  13. You should receive a prompt which states "Added Duo Mobile". Click Continue.
