There is also the option to use "Plus dialing". Plus dialing can be used for local or long distance calls. To dial using this method:
- Hold down the * (star) key on the phone until you see it change to a +
- Dial country code (1 for US) followed by the area code, city code, and local number. For US numbers +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx
For emergencies, dial 9-1-1*
*Exception: Dial 9-9-1-1 from analog phones for an outside line, e.g. courtesy phones, Resident Director phones, fax machines.

How to use + (plus) dialing (E.164):
- Hold down the 0 (zero) key on the phone until you see the display change to a + (In the Teams app in Windows or Mac, simply enter a + with the keyboard)
- Dial country code (1 for US), followed by the city/area code, and local number. For US numbers +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx
- For international numbers such as in the UK, many phone number begin with a zero. For example: 020 7946 0192. The leading zero should be dropped. For example, when dialing using these rules, dial as +44 20 7946 0192
For emergencies, dial 9-1-1
